Selected Color

In this tutorial I will show you how to make a certain part of a photo color and the rest black and white. I have loved this effect ever since I saw the dashing and very handsome Spider-man…ahem…I mean Tobey Maguire in the movie Pleasantville, which is great by the way. I’ve decided to use the history brush for this because I think it’s easier than making a lot of complicated selections.

I am looking at the tutorial for selected color and all I see is the pictures - before/after and no tutorial and I don’t know how to bring up the tutorial. I came to your web site from The Photoshop Raodmap. I would also like to view your other tutorials. Thanks.

There’s a much easier way to do this.
Just use the lasso tool to select what you want, then hit cntrl+shift+i, and it turns it to selecting everything but what you highlighted, then, you go to image, adjustments, and desaturate, it does the same thing, but you don’t have to colorize everything by hand.

@Harley: Hey Harley! Thanks for your input. I made this tutorial using the history brush so that I wouldn’t have to make any complex selections. I just find it easier that way, but to each his own.

hey, i just tried to use this, but when i went to my photoshop, and went under image, it doesnt say “adjustments”
is there something wrong with my photoshop, like or is there another way to use it.
