I just came across something totally awesome...free textures! Lost and Taken has a texture gallery filled to the brim with high res textures ranging from watercolor, to grungy, scratched, bokeh, film, and paper. And like I said, they are free to use for any personal and commercial works. Can't wait to start using these! Enjoy!

Photoshop blood splatter tutorials and brushes from around the web.

This compilation post is an ode to my absolute favorite TV shows, and also a sequel to my 5 Great Vampire Tutorials post. The faves I am speaking of, True Blood, Dexter, Vampire Diaries, and Being Human, all have something in common--blood. I also feel the need to mention another fave, One Tree Hill. It's not bloody like the aforementioned shows, but it has certainly had its fair share of murderous villains. OH, and the dog that ate Dan Scott's heart while waiting for his transplant (yes, really).

Anyway, as always, I am rambling. Basically, here's a list of some brushes and tutorials I've gathered that reminded me of my favorite shows that I thought would look amazing in some horror-inspired photoshops. Enjoy!

A selection of stylish camera bags from around the web.

Camera bags. They aren't all that attractive. Truth is, I don't even carry my camera bag that came with my Canon Digital Rebel XT. I usually end up stuffing all of my lenses into whatever handbag I have that is big enough to accommodate them. I know, I know, very irresponsible. But, you know, my camera bag is just so bland. Also, there's just something about traditional camera bags that scream "I'M A TOURIST!", even when I am at home in Louisville.

Recently, I have found a slew of stylish camera bags that remedies the nasty plague of ugly ones for my fellow female shutterbugs (and couple for you dudes out there!).

Epiphanie

There are 3 from Epiphanie that I am just totally loving, The Lola ($164.99), the Clover ($184.99), and the Ginger ($164.99) (my favorite out of the 3).

I love the designs from Epiphanie, these are much more like handbags yet with the necessary guts (or padding) to protect your camera and lenses.

Also, the Lookbook--outstanding!

Jo Totes

The camera bags at Jo Totes is more for the girl that loves vintage style. Seriously, the Rose bag in marigold ($89) with the gorgeous houndstooth pattern interior is just lovely!

Kelly Moore

In addition to these amazing camera bags I would just like to point out that the video on the homepage is super cute. More handbag style designs including the HUGE Juju Bag ($249.99) is perfect for the girl that need more equipment on her.

There's also a great messenger-style camera bag for the stylish dudes out there called the Kelly Boy Bag ($199).

Emera

The Emera camera bags have a more classic style, particularly the beautiful Quilted Canvas Bag ($169), which channels beloved Chanel but much more affordable.

I'm loving the Classic Canvas bag ($169) with it's simple yet beautiful design.

Photojojo

Photojojo is just so cool. As you may have read in my Dreamy Diana Lens for Your DSLR post, the Photojojo Store is awesome! So of course they have few stylish camera bags too. The SLR Sloop bag ($149) is more of a preppy messenger-style bag for the ladies and the fellas. And, in addition to being totally stylish, they are also water repellent. There's also the Classic Leather Camera Satchel ($190) that's pretty sexy too.

I have a new favorite store--the Photojojo Store. I just found out about the store around a week ago and I cannot believe I hadn't seen it before even though I had been to the main site and I'm signed up for their newsletter. When I did finally see it, I was instantly filled with glee. And then I saw the Dreamy Diana Lens and felt like I was going to pass out with excitement. I have yet to get a real Diana camera, but I love, like any photographer, getting new gadgets and lenses for my DSLR. The Dreamy Diana Lens is made out of plastic and turns your DSLR into a toy camera with the lo-fi, dreamy, soft focus look I love. The adapter works with Nikon and Canon DSLRs/SLRs and also works with any lens in the Diana line. You could say that this would only save you a few steps in Photoshop by not having to use Gaussian blur, but it just looks like such a fun adapter/lens. Do want!

There's a new Polaroid Generator in town.

Okay, so I might be late to the party on this one, but for some reason I never knew there was a Polaroid Generator V2 action until recently. And as always, I got very excited. Happy dance! As you may know, I love anything and everything that makes photos look like Polaroids. I have written about Poladroid and of course, V1 of the Polaroid Generator. I think I prefer the actions more because you can move your photo around in the frame and change the layers if the effects are too strong for a particular photo. In V2 there is now the option of converting to a black and white Polaroid along with many other new features. Here are some example photos I took from my road trip:

This week I am going to be venturing into the world of bokeh.

What is bokeh, you ask? Bokeh (pronounced "boke-uh") is the term we use in photography to describe the out-of-focus areas or blur in a photograph. Some people, like myself, just use it specifically to describe the out-of-focus highlights.

Recently I have noticed a ton of amazing photographers using bokeh shots as textures to give photos a more dreamy or whimsical feel. For today I wanted to show you some inspirational photographs that use Bokeh textures and link to some of my favorite bokeh textures. Come back tomorrow and I will show you how to add a bokeh texture to your pictures in my next tutorial!

We all love the movie Avatar, it changed movies as we know them. I have been seeing friends and strangers alike turning themselves into avatars so I thought I make my newest compilation post for those that would also like to learn how.

I'm organizing this post with different levels of which you would like to "avatar" your photo.

A Touch of Avatar
f you just want a dash of Avatar goodness to your photo I would go with this tutorial. There's not any healing or liquifying but does show how to change the color of the skin.

A Deeper Level of Avatar
If you want even more of an Avatar look but don't want to work much on the markings the Avatars have this is the tut for you. BONUS: Background tutorial!

For Those That Prefer a More Cartoon Avatar
This one steps it up even more with great skin and marking work. Use this tutorial if you want your Avatar to have a more cartoon appearance. BONUS: Dramatic lighting effects!

Whole Hog Avatar
If you want your Avatar to look like an Avatar as much as possible and the most realistic I would go with this tut. The eye work and the dodging and burning is outstanding.

I love the Polaroid Generator because it gives you much more control over your photos as an action compared to Poladroid that I wrote about here.
